sometimes we just need a bit of glam in our lives and that even comes into play with organizing. there is a time and place for basic, but also for BOUGIE. if you are in your bougie era, then you must make this simple fix and you will be living your BEST, most ORGANIZED, LUXURIOUS life. Ok, it’s time to change up those spices. gone are the days of mismatched jars, say hello to beautiful + coordinated spice options. Here’s how we do it at HOME + SORT. check out our favorite spicy tips below.

Spice Tips we LOVE:

-Use spice racks to 1. Bring order to your spices so you can contain them + 2. Seing what spices you have easily makes cooking/baking/restocking so much easier.

-At home sort we use either a round lazy Susan or a 3 tired spice shelf.  Both products are great for seeing each spice and creating a home for your seasonings.

SPICE TIPS CONTinued…

-Every spice rack should 1. Make your spices easier to access and 2. enhance your spice cabinet with function.

-spice storage options are: a 3 tiered shelf, a spice mat for drawers, or a lazy Susan.  Honestly, all of them work great, it just depends on the space you are working with.  The 3 tiered shelf is great for a pantry, while the spice mat is well suited for a spice drawer, and the lazy Susan is perfect for a kitchen cabinet.

more tips…

-In terms of capacity, it is important to look at the amount of spices you own so you can shop for the right product.  If you are a minimalist, a lazy Susan or spice mat will work great for you.  If you are a spice maximalist try a 3 tired shelf. it will give you double the space.

more tips…

-Our favorite spice racks are usually made from bamboo or acrylic/plastic.  Bamboo is very sturdy and looks luxurious, while clear plastic works wonders in small spaces where you want an open feel to your storage.  Beware of flimsy materials + always shop for quality construction that will stand the test of time.

let’s wrap this up

-The best way to organize your spices is by type + use.  At home + sort we often replace mismatched spices and opt for either all one brand or even custom spice jars (with labels) to bring that cohesive look.  Once you have matched your spices sort according to use for example savory spices together, sweet spices together, rubs together and so on.

-Getting your spices organized is such an easy, low cost way to add function + style to your kitchen.
